Work

Ok so I am an official play-ground supervisor for Cuyahoga Falls at:

I love my job but already it has given me a healthy respect for the work that Parents do. Plus I now understand my middle school teacher's hesitation to give us recess, especially for prolonged periods of time. On any given day, I have on average 20-25 kids on permanent summer break recess. This equals a lot of energy well spent, and a lot of kickball!

Found this Picture last night surfing the web, its from Xark.

I don't know about how you feel about Politics, but one has to question the timing of this new Gay Marriage Ban. Personally, this seems like a great trick in the Republican Playbook that Al Franken has dubbed, the "Fear, smears, and queers" play. In this play Republicans first insight fear through the heart of Americans. Then they smear their adversaries, then for the icing they attack queers.

It doesn't take an Historian to see that America has been tricked by this campaign before. The question will be, will it work this time. From what I've seen recently from the American people, it just might work.

Graduation thoughts before bed

I was looking at Mr. McSparran's collection of Graduation photo's on his Xanga (found here). And I realized that he has practically the same smile in all of them, except for this one:

Party Pooped

Let it be known that Party Hoppin is serious business, a job within itself. Today I went to six parties, and ate more than six plates of food, drank more than six bottles of water, shook more than sixty hands, and etc. Overall I enjoy parties, but in excess I get party pooped. Today's parties were pretty good and I go to see some of my ol' Lippman buds. Part of the gang got together to take this picture:

I am excited for this fall since Cheryl (the girl right above my head) will be going to DC with me. We shall have some good times, I can feel it.

Well I must be going off to bed, tomorrow I start work with Maria.

P.S. - Has anyone noticed how every Graduation party has the same anti-pasta dish. Or is it just me?

Back Home!

Well I am back from Pennsylvania from Abraham's baptism. I had a good time fellowshipping with the family, and eating lots of food. The highlight of the trip for me was getting to see my good Aussie friend Andrew and meeting his very Aussie wife (who has a very Australian accent). I must say they make some interesting, yet very good, Australian deserts; William was all over them.

Overall I had a great time. The only downfall came in the death of my Ipod. Well its not dead, in the sense that its broken, just dead in that for the eight hour trip home all of my music lay washed up on the shore of some distant land in the world of computers, when it should have been on my Ipod. Here's the scoop: So I on the way to Abe's I sucked my Ipod dry of its battery, and feeling lazy I didn't feel like charging it on my brother's laptop. So instead I waited till today to charge my Ipod at Abe's house. At first I plugged it on his mother's computer, but he said that computer was broken and to use his instead. I accepted his offer and plugged my Ipod to his computer. When it came time to go I walked into Abe's room where I found my brother and Abe staring at the computer screen. Then they looked at me. Then the computer screen. I asked what was up, and Abe broke the news to me that he thought that my music was deleted, and his was placed on my Ipod instead. To my horror, he was right, and the 25 gig's of my music that I meticulously placed on my Ipod was replaced by Abe's 4 gig's.

For those of you who don't know me, I hate to say it but I am a bit of an elitist when it comes to music. I hate listening to the stuff on the radio, and feel as if it is not real music at all, just crap produced so that it will sell, and as the rap crew Blackalicious say, their "only concern is going Platinum." Because of this I feel as if its not real art, just marketed crap. So when it comes to music I am quite particular of what goes on my Ipod, not just anything can go on, everything is studied meticulously to make sure it is of the finest quality. I have become a lover of bands such as Wilco, Sufjan Stevens, Danielson, The Go! Team and etc. The indie stuff. But I truly enjoy other types of music too, and I am just as particular when it comes to those as I am with my rock. For example, no Kenny G on my ipod, no, just pure Duke Ellington and Louie Armstrong, and the same when it comes to rap. No Ying Yang twins, no my rap must have the substance that can be found in groups like Blackalicious and Jurrasic Five.

This whole elitist thing is a bit of problem for me, since I'll be the first to say that I can't stand elitists. Yet at the same time, I find that I am an elitist myself. So I speak out against elitist in politics, yet at the same time I am just as elitist in music. On the way home I felt quite convicted by the verse in Matthew during the Sermon on the mount when Jesus says, "Judge not, that ye be not judged....And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?" Ouch.

Well as I type this, I have begun the process of adding music back to my Ipod. Already I can see that it is going to be a slow process, and this time I'm being more particular in choosing my music, only because I want to save more space in the long run. Not so much because I am elitist when it comes to music, although I am, but more for spacial reasons. I already feel like it's going to be a long night ahead...
